TERRARIUMS & WORKSHOPS
A TERRARIUM is a plant version of an aquarium, a little garden world enclosed in a glass bottle or jar.
Popular in the 1970s, they are making a comeback along with the houseplants of the era, such as the mother in law’s tongue and spider plants.
Lidded terrariums are self-sustaining and so need very little attention.
The plants and the soil release water vapour into the air which condenses into water droplets as it touches the glass, which runs down into the soil to begin the process all over again.
Maintenance-wise, you’ll only need to open the lid every now and then to allow in some fresh air.
Popular plants for terrariums are fittonia, moss, nerve plants, begonia and ferns.
The best terrarium plants stay small while offering tons of color and texture.
